Root 4.0.4 without Unlocking Bootloader?

Is this possible? I saw an older thread from December asking the same question but I'm guessing it is irrelevant now because I was able to root 4.0.2 without unlocking bootloader.
I made the mistake of not keeping root with the app before updating. (I was in a rush to update my replacement after having all my apps installed...)

This is gonna suck if there is no way because I'd rather not unlock and loose everything AGAIN and then have to restore it all.
Any help would be appreciated.

Nope... bootloader needs to be unlocked.

I haven't tried this myself... maybe someone else can chime in on this but Wugs Toolkit supposedly makes a complete backup of the phone before unlocking/rooting.

Hmm if that works then I won't have a problem with unlocking and losing everything temporarily.
