root explorer question

Noob question here...
After noticing when I plug in my USB and mount, the phone is not giving me the option to unmount. If I look at the notification bar, it says to mount, click here but I have already pulled up the SD file on my PC. I went into root explorer and the button says Remount as R/O after I have removed the USB cable.

When you go into Root Explorer, should it not always be on Read Only? Not sure why mine is on Write.

I mounted as R/O and all seems to work ok but I am not sure how it got flipped. I was renaming apps with root explorer but I don't think I changed the mount status.
Just wondering...

Looks liked it flipped again. Mounted the phone to access the SD and when I went to unmount, it prompted me to mount or cancel.

No one knows here? If you are rooted and go into root explorer, what do yo see. A button to mount R/O or R/W?

I just synced again and it worked perfect. I then unmounted and disconnected. Checked Root Explorer and the button shows Mount R/W showing me it is in RO mode. I think this is how it is supposed to be but I don't know what would cause it to change.
