Hi all,

Just "upgraded" from Froyo to Gingerbread 2.3.3 on 10-9-11. In doing so, of course lost my root and my ability to use as wifi hotpot (DOH!) Major bummer day for me.

Anyhow, Ive been reading that there are really two roots available to date, one called Gingerbreak and the other called Motorola One Click Root. I tried both, fallowing both closely, and neither seemed to work.

Anybody out there having any luck with getting a root to work on the X? I am wondering that if I had this working once with SuperUser access, then did the upgrade, if that cause some kind of issue. Then again, tied both on my wife's phone who never had it rooted, and it didn't work on hers either.

I appreciate any links to easy to follow tutorials or files you can pass along. Thanks in advance for your help!

I just rooted this afternoon by following these instructions. Titanium works, but I can't get ROM Manager functional. Could be a conflict with... i don't know what.

Tethering won't work with any Gingerbread release, as far as I know. You have to be froyo-based to get that to work.

I'm running on Liberty Gingerbread v.9 and Wifi tethering is working just fine for me. I had to patch using the 591 patch which I believe is built into Liberty v9. If you're going standard blur 2.3.3 You need to root (I used z4) and then apply the 591 patch and grab wifi tether from code.google.com.

The one click root system does work i got it to work on my droid 3 and my droid x just one problem is that i was running 2.3.2 gingerbread on droid x when my droid x was rooted when i installed the os update from vzw it locked the superuser into the phone so make sure you update all of the system phone updates before you even attempt to do the one click root or it will just keep failing to root hope this helps all in this forum good luck if ya have any questions on how i did it let me know going to do one click root on my droid bionic next
