Hey everyone.

I'm having root issues... I get root with superoneclick, and a recovery from RomTools. I'm trying to backup my phone but theres no option in the recovery menu, So I'm trying to get the xionia recovery installed, but I cant figure out how to get files into the root folder on my phone... I can see it in the phone with Astro, but not on my comp when hooked-up...

Then I thought I would try and use TitaniumBackup, but it says NO ROOT after I have rooted with superoneclick and even get a # instead of a $....

Im so confused, Im still stock and want a backup before I start modding. PLEASE HELP

1: Open superoneclick
2: Click Shell Root (make sure psneuter is checked)
3: It should tell you that you have temp root after a few seconds
4: Download a custom recovery of your choice. I like ThunderC. Download Flash_image.
5: Put the recovery.img and flash_image on your sd card
6: Run the following commands in a adb shell (make sure you have temp root first)
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
reboot recovery
7: Go to backup and make your self a nandroid
8: Download and install a rom.zip of your choosing via recovery.

Of-course this is just a rough guide. It's not very in-depth.

Well, I can get files on the bottom level folder, but i cant do anything with the root folder...?

You aren't supposed to do anything with the root folder, you load your recovery.img file to your sdcard, and just follow the instructions as posted by Takenover83.

Well SuperOneClick tells me I have root, but I dont think I do because I cant use titanium backup, its an extremely new optimus v, so maybe they did something so my root doesnt work?

You need the superuser app if you want to give root access to other apps. But why bother with that now? Just follow the guide posted above and you will be fine.Once you have a custom recovery and a back up, you can do anything you want with very little risk. Just don't use the factory reset built into the stock rom or any other rom.

I believe superoneclick gives more of a temp root. then superuser will save that access. in superoneclick you will know you have root when at the bottom is says "Running a SU test.......Success !" after you have installed superuser from tha android market. Until then I don't think (I'm a noob but know I have root) you have prem root/superuser access till it says that.
