First time rooting my tab and here's the problem. At first I had signature issues but when I unchecked auto reboot ( witch I'm guessing has nothing to do with signature) I was brought to the proper screen for zip from sd. I got through hours of failure and now have superuser app but when asked to "ok" binary update I get "failed to update". So I downloaded rootchecker and to no avail I am not rooted. If someone knows how to remove and start over the right way that would be greatly appreciated. Any fix would be appreciated. Thank you.

I still can't find anyone who seems to know what they are doing so everyone is in the same boat that I am...clueless! If there is anyone who has rooted a galaxy tab p5113 then please share your knowledge cause I have been at this for a few day's and have failed miserably. Right now I have the superuser app. but it's inoperable. It wants to update binary but failes when I hit ok. I checked with rootchecker and it says I'm not rooted and no superuser. I'm a bit perplexed. I was sure I had the right recovery, CWM for my device but something is not right. Any help?

Read these:

How to Root Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and install CWM Recovery
Flash ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0 for the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1: How to root and install ClockworkMod Recovery
Galaxy tab 2 10.1 - RootzWiki

They all generally say the same thing but have different file links. I have a P5113 with ICS 4.0.4.

Use " Odin3 v1.85 " Search for it.
Use CWMR " GT-p5113_ClockworkMod-Touch_recovery_6.0.1.2.tar " Search for it. Don't think there are links above. Others failed.
Use this root " cwm-root-gtab2.zip " Search for it.

Actually very simple if you can get the key presses right and have the right flashes.

After gaining root, install SuperUser from market.

Do an immediate CWMR Backup so you can easily return this pristine state.

You might need BusyBox from market too.

Buy Titanium backup and have it do scheduled backups every night. Mainly for your data as apps will auto reinstall from market.

If you want to transfer data from your phone to tab you can use TIBU with DropBox to pull it off. YouTube video out there to show how.

For one knowing what they are doing, it takes 5 - 10 mins.
