Root Troubles?

Okay I feel super stupid. Once upon a time I had a Droid Incredible that I rooted the day unrevoked3 came out, very simple. I then traded for a Droid X, messed around with it a bit, rooted that as well. So anyways, I went back to an Incredible again , but now I cant seem to even get past the first step of rooting it . I cant update the drivers because my computer in Device Manager wont show the "Other Devices" "android 1.0" for some god awful reason. I have it in H-boot Usb Plug with USB debugging enabled before I booted into H-Boot. AM I SEVERELY STUPID and missing something or what?
Anyhelp Incredible rooters? I mean at least I came back from the dark side...

really? no one knows why? is there something wrong with this incredible maybe? any suggestions would be great... thanks!

just kidding, after one last try before going to sleep, i realized that it automatically updated my driver software? i guess since i already did it on my computer before with a different incredible it auto updated it for me. odd. well its rooted now and ready to go! whatupp RUU time!

If you RUU your phone you will lose root, and unrevoked doesn't work on 2.2 from my understanding. So you will not gain root again. Also if you rooted why don't you just install a rooted 2.2 ROM?!
