Root/Unlock Question

Is it possible to use Wug's Root Toolkit 1.4 to root BEFORE I unlock the bootloader? I've read that there is an exploit to root before unlocking but it sounds complicated and I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to rooting/unlocking. I guess I'm really asking if that exploit was ever implemented into the root method used by wug in his toolkit. Any help would be greatly appreciated

With this toolkit, no I don't believe that's possible. There is a one click method floating around on other forums that you can do this with. I honestly forget the name of it though.

Damn! I really want to root before I unlock so that I can do a nandroid backup of my current stock rom since I never unlocked when I bought the phone at launch. I will try and search for it. At least now I know that it exists! Thanks

I remember reading about it; when you search, look for something that talks about java a whole lot. It's usable on Mac, Windows, and Linux as well.

Thanks I found it already. Unfortunatly it only works with 4.0.2. I guess it hasn't been updated for 4.0.4. Oh well. I made the plunge and just unlocked and rooted using wugs root toolkit. Flashing JB in a few minutes!

Be careful and be sure to wipe it clean!
