Root users and OTA

Are those of you who are currently running the leaked OTA planning on revamping your phone back to stock for the official OTA and risk loosing root or going to leave as is and use a custom version of the OTA or ROM when the final version is out?

Just want to get a sense what everyone is doing because I kind of feel like leaving my phone as is and just wait for the developers but am unsure if that is a smart idea as I am new to the android community.

I have no plans of rolling back for the final OTA. UnrEVOked has said once the OTA comes out, there's guarantee that you'll be able to root. HTC and Verizon are going to have it locked up tight as can be. I'm perfectly fine with waiting a couple of days/weeks for developers to work their magic.

The 8/1 leak is pretty good. I'll wait until someone has a rooted version of the official OTA because I have zero intent to go back to 2.1 and i have no desire to give up root.

Same here. The issues I'm having with the leak are quite minor...

No way I'm giving up root. I'm plenty happy with CyanogenMod 6 and Sky Raider 2.2. Got Sky Raider running right now and its got everything I need. So yea, I'm not even gonna think twice the day the OTA goes live. I'll stick with these until a new ROM catches my eye.

Did either of these roms update the radio from 1.x to 2.x? I have flashed between the leaked OTA original and the leaked OTA revision on 08/1 and which kept the original radio from the 2.1 OTA.

The only issues I am aware of with using FROYO with the Eclair radio are:

1) The camcorder will not work and causes phone to reboot when launched.
2) I sometimes have to toggle my plane mode to get 3G connection back after

I am having problems dl the leaked radio ota. I have done everything the instructions say a number of times and keep getting the same result(error dl aborted) any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

You named the file "update" without the ".zip," right?

If you renamed the file "update.zip," you actually named it "update.zip.zip."

I'm pretty sure that skyraider 2.2 comes with the newer radio packaged in. I'm using the sense version and it kicks ***!

I think I'm about to give in and go ahead and root this week. Was going to wait for the OTA and go from there, but I think it's time for some Froyo love.

Skyraider 2.2 no longer includes the newer radio. The developer removed it due to a few people having issues with it. So you'd have to flash the new radio first and then the Skyraider rom afterwards.

CM 6 uses the 1.x radio, so all good there. Sky Raider used to include the updated radio, but does not no more. I forgot to mention that I was using Sky Raider 2.2 with the old radio. Everything works fine except for the camcorder.

Does your GPS work? Mine just keeps searching for GPS towers however still knows where i am on maps.. weird i know.
