Root users: How does Jelly Bean perform with other launchers?

I've tried just about every other launcher in the Play Store, but the one thing I noticed is that they handle Live Wallpapers even worse than stock does. Jelly Bean reportedly fixes this, but I'm curious if using a different launcher with the new update still gets the fluid 60fps that the stock launcher has.

Probably not the stock launcher is going to be hard to beat in the fluid department

I think the stock launcher is just a tad quicker than Nova; it's more fluid, especially with app launching. I have not tried Apex, so I can't say how that launcher compares.

Apex isn't even compatible with Jelly Bean right now.

I'm totally fine using the stock launcher.

Apex was updated to work with JB a few days ago, I've been using it, myself. Seems pretty quick and fluid, to me, but I suppose I'm not the best judge on that kind of thing. Haven't tried running any live wallpapers with it, though.

Apex is pretty good, i only use it because it has gesture options(swipe up, swipe down) without getting the paid version.

Nova has a setting to adjust the smoothness. (See image) Is made it pretty close.

I've been using Apex since flashing JB 5 days ago and love it! No problems at all. Live wallpapers work fine. Adding additional screens, gestures, and endless scrolling is another plus.

Did I mention that it's free? Paid version is available, of course, but the free version has bells and whistles that Nova doesn't.

Apex was the best on 4.0.4 now its a little sluggish on JB. Also keeps reloading the screen sometimes when you exit an app and this was after the update to be compatible with JB. I never was a fan of Nova but they did their homework and it Runs super smooth on JB. Those are the only 2 launchers I've tried so far.

I would like to try the basic launcher, but I love being able to restore and backup my screens. I'd probably not flash much if I couldn't do that with Nova.

I used Nova with ICS, and still am with JB. I haven't noticed any issues that were related to Nova, and as others have noted, Nova has already updated their app for JB tweaking. I also haven't tried any others, so my opinion is skewed. I am happy with it so there's no need to keep looking. I like the cube animation between home screens, infinity scrolling, the option to use the ICS or JB search widget, or no widget at all.

Nova is laggy compared to stock on my phone. Miss the options, but lag free for me please

I have used Stock, nova and Apex.

stock is the fastest and smoothest overall.

apex and nova are about as smooth and fast as they were on ICS...however, all lag with Live wallpapers is 99% gone. i mean, they ARE ICS launchers modified to work with JB.

give apex and Nova some time to modify the stock JB launcher and it should bring the smoothness of stock with the customization of the custom launchers.
