I rooted with unrevoked running ubuntu 10.10. easy and flawless just make sure you run the program with root privileges in terminal and you are all set.

I'm not trying to be mean, but if you have Ubuntu and you don't know what root is, are you really sure you want to root your phone?

Rooting your phone can open up a lot of neat things, but it can also just as easily be a nightmare. The old saying "With great power comes great responsibility" is very true here.

Before rooting your phone I would strongly suggest you read the sticky threads in this forum as well as at least 3 or 4 pages of threads so that you really know what you are getting into.

I agree with the above post, make sure this is something you want to do. I know there have been points where I thought I destroyed my phone, laptop, xbox etc because of my modding. To date I've been lucky and been able to find help in forums to walk me through my mistakes :-)
1. Download reflash.tar.gz from the link provided above
2. extract the containing file to your Desktop (reflash)
3. open a terminal and navigate to the folder where you extracted the reflash file -->
4. cd Desktop
5. now type sudo ./reflash ( you will be asked to type your password)
6. unrevoked should be running and follow the onscreen instructions

I hope that helps

Another way to do that would be to run it with "gksu" if you don't want to use the terminal (you can do that through properties if you right click. I'm using Windows at the moment so I can't verify this).
