Can I root my phone using the revolutionary method if my phone has the lastest GB OTA update?

I did it two days ago with my phone, which had the most recent OTA. Worked like a champ when I followed the directions properly.:-!

is it worth it to flash back to before i rooted download the ota update and then reroot? or should i just flash a rom that has the newest update incorporated? if so what rom's include the newest ota update?

In my opinion, it's NEVER worth it unroot to install an update.

A lot of ROMs have the update included. Pretty much any one that lists "2.11.605.5" as the base is fully updated. (i.e. "BAMF Forever").

2.11.605.3 was the original update that had broken VM notificitions. So if a ROM is based off of that, it should be fine as long as the VM notifications have been patched on it.

I have the newest update and im trying to root. i get the beta key and all that just fine...when i click back on the revolutionary.exe it says Waiting for device...thats all i get...i did this on another thunderbolt that did not have the newest update and everything went fine no problems. any idea how to get it to find the device?

I'm guessing you're using Revolutionary. The firewall on your computer that allows the program to talk to the phone. I just remember Nat3mil stopping the filming of his video then saying oh yeah don't forget to turn off the firewall. Thought this might be the problem.

I remember this problem happening to someone else... its on one of the pages in the Revolutionary thread. Basically either the Drivers or the Program is still recognizing your old Thunderbolt. I had the person first uninstall Revolutionary and download it with a clean install and see if it would then work.... if not, also uninstall the drivers and re-install them. I forget which one eventually worked. Read through the pages of the Revolutionary guide..... if I have time later, I'll try to find which page its on for you but basically your computer is still recognizing your old phone that was being used.
