rooted apps

just rooted my nexus what are the best apps to download??/

These are just some of the ones I like to use...other people may have different opinions. :)

-Shoot Me (screen grabber - but make sure you force stop when you're done using it)
-SetCpu
-Cache Cleaner NG
-Ad Free
-Wireless Tether
-MinFree Manager
-Quick Boot

And then another thing I always like to do is cook up a battery icon that shows % in the notifications. You can do that here:

UOT Kitchen. Kitchen

Totally agree with force stop when you're done with shoot me! I had it but got tired of having to do that every time I used it so I just ended up uninstalling. The only other apps I'd throw in there are titanium backup and BackLight Notification if you're using an approved kernel.

I love me some Root Explorer. And once you really want to get down and dirty, ROM Manager and BLN control :D

What kernels work with the backlight notification? I'm interested in using this...

LED Choosing

Ok, here's a question... I don't want soft key notification for every email I get through my work email (exchange). Now I can turn off notifications and that stops my keys from lighting up...but... I want to get the notification without the keys lighting up. Is there any kind of 'chooser?' Something to let me pick what I want to notify me through keys/led?

*edit*

This is probably a dumb question... I understand a notifcation manager may be a little redundant but I thought I would see if anyone knew.

Can you explain why you need wireless tether, as Sprint can't block the native wireless tethering?

Last time I the native tether it didn't work...I tried the app and it was fine. I haven't tried it since I had Sprint replace my Nexus S. I guess I will tonight and see if it works.

Well if you're already rooted, why not go ahead and install wifi tether just in case sprint tries to start charging for it?

rom manager with clockworkmod recovery is the first thing I install.

I had a hard time getting it to boot into CWM recovery at first. I found a tip somewhere credited to CWM dev suggesting installing an older version of CWM via ROM Manager then immediately reinstalling the newest version. That did the trick for me.

Looks like there's no love for noled. I've figured how to set it up to show the app's icon as the notification led. You can change the size big or small. Say if you hear a notification sound, just look at the screen to see the icon if its sms, google voice, gmail, regular mail, or any other program you want to display an icon for. The screen stays black but the icon displays on different places on the screen. I also have it display the battery level percentage when it's charging so I don't have to wake it to see the level. I've never seen bln in action but I think noled gives you enough information that you don't need to wake it to see what the sound was. No special kernel needed either. I'm running stock rooted and it works good.
