I rooted my Inspire before the update came out. Now my phone is saying the update is available, but if I apply it, wouldn't that undo my root or something? Has anyone tried this?

Whatever ROM you put on it, you should ask the dev of it.

Sorry, I forgot to say I'm not using a ROM right now. I dont really want to use one, but that may be the solution.

Then I would ask the dev of the rooting method you used if it's ok to do the update.

If it's rooted, just flash a custom rom like cm7. You wont need the update then

Reidrdj HTC Inspire 4g

If you are running the stock rooted rom, you cannot just install the update. You need to move to a different rom (in which case updates will no longer be pushed to it), or install this version of the stock rooted rom. This contains the ota updates. With this update, you'll get screaming data speed!

[ROM] Ace_Cingular_US_1.84.502.11-Radio-26_06_06 _30_M - xda-developers

To be clear, this is the stock att rom, with the ota update, with sideloading enabled. Very solid.

I downloaded this ROM and installed it, nevertheless this is still the same ROM that I've installed before and doesn't have HTML but just plain text for email, and doesn't have US English either, any idea as to why? is this not the "cooked up" update? please, explain to me, I would like to update my inspire 4G and other ROM just won't do...

Thanks.

Just how did you install this rom? If you're phone has a different rom, use ROM Manager, and installed it through Recovery options, from there, wipe the device, and do a fresh install from the Inspire ROM [Rooted}

I have threads on this in the root section for Inspire. Check them out.

I installed the rom as per your instructions, I flashed it from the bootloader, change the name of it to "PD98IMG" as you suggest and it also now won't let me do a recover either, I just flashed/hacked it again using the newest hack kit v11 to return it to stock but it is your rom in stock, no rom manager nothing of the sort of root.

I'm thinking maybe I can find the stock rom and "sideload/push" it to the sd card and change its name to PD98IMG, maybe this'll work, I'll try and let you know, sucks not having enough time to do it though lol. thanks for the reply.

I need help once more please!

I returned my inpire to stock and turned s-* from "s-off" to "s-on" so I could try the new At&T update because I believed them to said they have made some fixes, for lack of the correct term to email which I thought included, fixing hotmail to address the issue of not having html format on Exchange Sync.

I used the New Hack Kit V11a for windows by attn1, it worked fine to restore the phone to it's stock radio and ROM, now I cannot root or s-off the phone as I would like to, with the same tool, it just cannot turn s-* to S-off and the radio won't change, when it;s supposed to change it, it just shuts the phone off and a red triangle comes up over a phone on the screen, I want to be able to turn s-off again.,

I have tried with Hack Kit V11a and 3-21-11_RC2 which was with the one I rooted the phone before.

any help would be appreciated greatly.

thanks

Its possible you bricked your phone, or your phone is just re-looping.

To get out of this, you will have to push the Android Restore Update Utility tool. Using it will unroot the phone and wipe everything on it. But at least you have a fresh start at re-rooting it, and probably using Bubby's Simple One Click method.

The link is below on my sig.

First off thanks for your prompt reply, at first I also thought I had bricked the phone, but not so thank God, It pushes everything correctly it's only on the s-off that gives me that, it is looping even if I try to revert to stock radio, it seems it does it, but not true, I may not be understanding the directions properly, I will try that what you said once I get back on my computer, thanks again.

Well, here I am again, bad news for me, yes my phone is bricked and I can only get it to work if I remove the battery, if I try to boot into hboot while it's of by holding down vol. down and power key, it doest do anything, I get into hboot by restarting the phone and as soon as the soft keys shut off I hold power and vol. down, did a recovery goes into brick, did a factory reset, doesn't really do it, just erases all data and goes back to same radio version which is 26.06.06.30_M date of December 27 2010 eMMC-boot 14:47:30.

I tried the s-on tool again ant the HTC Android Phone ROM Update Utility 1.0.2.10 I dowloaded from your link, have tried several ways to go back to stock radio without any luck, now the utility gives me an error [HL"]ERROR [140]: BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR"[/H] and then "The ROM Utility cannot update your Android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again." it cannot downgrade my version, I've ran out of luck perhaps, can't think how else to downgrade that radio and get the phone to stock.... thanks, maybe later on my problem would have a solution, now I can't even put my email acct. on Ex Sync, it just keeps updating every two seconds.

Thanks! any suggestions would be appreciated as to getting that darn radio back... I'll keep on looking also.

You're phone isn't bricked.

If you have a SD Card reader on your PC, you can place the original stock radio on it and get back into HBoot to reflash the stock radio again.

More here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ins...2-after-root-wifi-not-working.html#post954348

Now, I have an SD Card Adapter and an USB SD Card reader. With that, you can place the files you need back on the SD Card to reflash the stock radio back to the phone. More references here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc...idnt-brick-my-phone-need-help.html#post956768

Just take your time, and you'll get your phone back.

From here, you need to download the Android Recovery Update Utility. It will get you back to stock: http://forum.androidcentral.com/inspire-rooting-roms-hacks/88094-rom-t-stock-rom-sense-unroot.html
Homescrub, I thank you for the support given, finally just got my phone back! rooted and s-off that is, after some days on the other side on stock ROM, I still don't know what was causing the phone to not work.

here's how I did it:

left the stock with hsupa alone, let the radio alone, ran RUU_Ace_Cingular_US_1.80.502.3_Radio_12.39.60.19_26.06.04.06_M_release_166557_signed.exe again, and this time it was successful.

after that, I used bubby's "simple root s-off" and it worked back on root and s-off, thanks for your support...
