Rooted. Call volume too loud. Is there a way to change volume range?

I find that the volume is generally too loud even on lowest setting. Is there a way to change to range of volumes to reduce the low and high end by shifting everything lower? I have searched but no one has proposed a solution to this issue. Is there a simple value that can be adjusted to fix this?

Did you flash a ROM? Which one? If BAMF 1.6.3 with the CallRecorder, that is a known issue. You can flash a different kernel (4.4.7nr) which gets rid of the CallRecorder and the overly loud volume. It's a byproduct of having CallRecorder on there so it captures the incoming call audio. I had to get rid of it myself because it was too loud.

I've been using 1.6.1 remix. Someone recommended 4.4.6 kernel which appears to have helped.
