Rooted CM7.1.0.2 want stable CM9 ICS

I have drew's cm7.1.0.2 from sometime early last year, and have been daily driving it since i flashed it. I have a few questions.

1. I believe I have the ZV9 radio, but I can't figure out how to tell since it's listed as unknown

2. I'd like to go to a ICS Rom that's stable, but not stock. Recommendations?

3. What's involved in getting to ZVD, or ZVJ radio?

4. I did my nandroid backup already, and I have Xionia CWMA 1.2518.6

You might also try thekraven's CM7.2; he fixed several of the bugs and there were many improvements.

As far as I know, all CM7's were designed for the ZVD radio, so if you have service, that is likely what you have.

There has been no stock ICS released for the Opti S. The only option presently available is thekraven's CM9 port, which is fine for some, but a few things are still buggy and a lot of the CM features have not yet been integrated. There are also some themes and mods to make CM7 look and feel like ICS and you would have all the features.

3. What's involved in getting to ZVD, or ZVJ radio?

Again, you probably already have ZVD, but it's pretty much as simple as double flashing the ZVD stock zip.

Awesome. You may want to consider an upgrade to Cannibal Open Touch recovery as it has more features and handles some of the newer ROMs a bit better.

What's the difference between the CM9, and AOKP builds other than the youtube issue?

CM9 is well, CM9. And AOKP is...AOKP. haha it's sorta like the difference between Cyanogenmod and MIUI(not as drastic though ) AOKP supposedly has more customizablility, but I don't see that. Other than that, they're just different. They have different systemui's and stuff. AOKP doesn't have a data toggle which really annoys me. Also, something about unicorn porn bothers me...haha. I prefer cm9.

yes, everything, but the voice search hard key on the side works, and I believe it's just mapped wrong.

My voicemail indicator won't go away though, which is slightly annoying, but pretty happy otherwise.

What about the deep sleep issue? My last transition from HydroROM to kraven's CM7 resulted to awful battery life, so I made a step back to Reborn which has given me the max battery life so far.

yeah, the battery life is suffering, but I have a computer job so i just leave it plugged in at work. I think it's more like stock battery life, I was getting phenomenal battery life with drew's CM7.1.0.2, and I had no complaints with it either, I just got bored . Honestly I'm dying to try Drew's jellybean, but seeing as I have to have this phone til the first of the year, I'm holding off. I'll experiment more when it's time to switch, and I have something else to call with.

I'm thinking of doing my wife's she has the same phone, but hers is 100% stock, and unrooted with all the OTA updates. Her baseband is MVJ, and i don't know what to do about it.

MVJ & ZVJ are the same thing. So all you'd need to do to hers is to root it, get drew's JB ROM (CM10), the proper GApps for JB, and follow the directions to get up and running - that ROM was made for ZVJ anyway.

I read through his known issues, and she'd probably kick my butt if all that stuff didn't work. This CM9 seems pretty stable though, though once the youtube fix gets committed to the stable release I'll probably try AOKP there are some things I'd like to customize that I can't with the straight CM9 build, might be the trebuchet launcher that's holding me back though. I've always used ADW.

Do you think the sticky link to the automated ZVJ root will work on hers?

Then I can flash CM9, Gapps, and Patch.

Did hers as well, I had to revert to ZVD to get it to root, but no issues there either. Big thanks to all those who created that automated root utility, it makes the whole thing so painless. I did mine back when you had to do it manually, and it took me like three hours, did hers from start to finish in under 20 minutes, including the boot afterwards.

BTW I have the apk for the ICS Sprint visual voicemail, which so far seems to be working great, and I figured out how to get rid of the "ghost" voicemail indicator as well.

Install the Sprint visual voicemail for ICS from Here and follow the included instructions. Then when all is done, and you're rebooted. Go to Menu->Settings->Apps->All->Phone and clear the data, and that annoying icon disappears.
