I bought a Fascinate with ED01 and rooted. I can not find the stock ED01 stuff to get back to stock. Everything I see is a rooted ED01. I am looking for everything I need to get back to complete stock. I have seen a lot of stuff but there are a ton of broken links. I just want to get back to stock.

As of right now if you are wanting to get back to stock ED01 without root, you have two options, flash back to stock and wait for the official OTA update

Or follow Adrynalyne's steps to get to stock ED01 quickly

one thing you'll need that gave me trouble at first - where they reference booting into recovery, you do that by pressing power + volume up + volume down all at the same time when the phone is off. hold it until a few seconds after the samsung screen.

you have to put each update.zip (ea28 and then ed01) in the root of your SD card for each step since the stock recovery feature doesn't let you specify anything but the update.zip file.

at least, as far as i know. i've only been at this a few weeks - i'm coming from the blackberry OS scene, which is vastly different.

Im still confused about the difference in the first and second link. If both are stock, what is the difference?

First method brings you back to stock DI01 which is Eclair which is Android Operating System (OS) 2.1 which is what the phone came with when it was released in September 2010. Doing that method, after you flash back to DI01 you have to go into menu=>settings=>about phone=>system updates and update to stock ED01 which is Froyo which is Android Operating System (OS) 2.2.1 though the verizon OTA.

The second method takes you back to stock DL09 which is still Eclair, which is still Android Operating System (OS) 2.1, but is an update to the original 2.1 software, hence 2.1 update 1, then you will use the update.zip files listed in that post.

I would suggest sticking with the first method and getting to Stock ED01 through the verizon OTA method.

I am trying to download the DI01 from the first link and the only way is by multi upload.

Ok so I used the second link by Adrynalyne and the first two links worked fine but I couldnt download the third but it downloaded OTA so does that mean Im good to go. Complete stock software?

If you got the OTA you should be good to go. Go menu=>settings=>about phone, scroll down and tell me what it says for the following:

Firmware version
Baseband
Kernel
Build

Firmware version 2.2.1
Baseband S:i500.04 V. ED01
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9
Build number SCH-I500.ED01

So what does that mean?

great, now just out of curiosity. What would look different if I wasnt? After flashing that, what would be different and how could I tell if I wasnt stock?

Your baseband and or build would say something else, perhaps EA28, EB01, or EC01. And when you look in the app drawer if you didn't see any of the vzw stuff (nav, vcast video, vcast music) or bing, you would not be on stock. Pretty much every other ROM out right now has removed all or part of that. Also when you look in your app drawer if you do not see an icon for superuser you are probably not rooted, and strictly stock.
