Ok, so I rooted my Fascinate weeks ago, using Z4Root. Then, last night thought I would get froggie and flash a new ROM...went with jt1134's Super Clean ROM. Flashing it went fine, unbeknown-st to me...thought I did something wrong, cause I didn't notice a difference, so I tried to flash back to my back-up. In the midst of some errors in Clockworkmod, apparently it worked again and I am now running the Super Clean ROM. My problem is that I did a wipe and clear and now my phone is still rooted, but Z4Root is no longer installed. Superuser remained installed. I reinstalled Z4Root and tried to "root" but it doesn't do anything after rebooting. So now I am missing the "unroot" option in Z4Root.

How can I unroot if/when I need to, e.g. update to Froyo?

Thanks,

E

You can Flash a stock rom using the ODIN tool :)

You do not need to unroot to get Froyo, there will be a zip you can flash, in all likelihood well before the OTA goes out. At worst, the next day.

Yeah but doesnt he need to get back to stock from JT's rom

Depends, if they dev's get the AOSP and radio working and from there Froyo then no, if it's a "clean" ROM then no, but if simply flashing the zip of the OTA Froyo most likely it will check bloat apps.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Update: I reloaded my back-up (back to stock +root with Z4Root) and Z4Root is missing from my apps and Superuser, though I am still rooted. So even though I am back at stock, doing a factory reset, still won't unroot me, will it?

i doubt they will get the radio working as quick as he is going to want it. but either way the Odin thing is the answer to what he was looking for.

So flashing the stock ROM through ODIN will put me back at factory, with no root, etc?

I have installed Z4Root and am trying to root, but it just keeps processing.

If you want to go back to out-of-the-box stock do the Odin. There is no point though IMO.
