Oh.. I am so sorry I decided to root my tablet!! But I did and it appears that it is rooted (I have SU)

But the firmware is at 3.0.1. I have tried updating via the Tablet as well as through Kies. Both say there is no update available and that I have the latest one.

I have a Yellow Exclamation point on Bootup if that helps.

THe tablet is slow and at times unresponsive. I have tried loading some apps, like Facebook, only to tell me that it no longer supports this version and to update my operating system.

So how can I upgrade my operating system if it says I have the latest.

My Tab is the P7510 WIFI

Thanks

Welcome to the forums.
When you root any device, you automatically lose the ability to update via an OTA (over the air). You can do one of two things: 1. You can try to reflash a stock ROM (I just checked, and it can only go as high as version 4.0.4 or Ice Cream Sandwich) or 2. you can flash a custom ROM. Cyanogenmod has a ROM that is up to 4.2 Jelly Bean. That is about as up to date as you can get that device.

Thank you for replying. I came to that same conclusion :( So I would be very happy to reload the Stock ROM since that is what I was used to. I get a bit confused when I start looking for these files. Dead links, not sure its the right one, etc.

Can you provide a link to the Stock ROM I need to load?

If I unrooted would it do OTA updates again?

If you unrooted, its possible. But no guarantee. Reflashing a stock ROM is probably best method to fully unroot. Try sammobile .com for files. Look for your model number, reflash with Odin.

Thank you thank you thank you. You gave me the confidence and I have brought my tablet back to 4.0.4 and all is well in the world. Now I just need to learn to leave it alone!!

You are welcome. Did that fix the issue of the apps?

Yes it did fix all the issues with the apps. THe tablet looks, feels and responds the way it did. Even all my Google stuff reconnected, SuperUser disappeared however so I don;t know if I am still rooted but just having it back is good enough for me. I will now live with no copy and paste!!

THank you again!!

No copy paste?

Hi

Everything appears to be functioning correctly, even the copy/paste. However I have factory reset the tablet before to get the copy/paste to work and it does for a while then stops. What I have read is that there is a file you have to clean in order to get that to work again and the only way you can get to it is to root the tablet... hence... that is why I rooted! I suspect that I will lose the ability to copy/paste again but this time I will live with it!

I looked to see if I was still rooted and I am not. I am back the "official Samsung". I had a bit of a scare when I rebooted it stuck at the Galaxy screen. I did a factory reset and everything is working fine now.

Glad everything is up and running. See you around the forums.
