I followed first 7 steps from this guide: http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-droid-incredible-rooting-roms-hacks/55941-guide-how-root-un-root-rom-your-droid-incredible.html#post552478

I didn't install UnrEVOked Forever because I am not going to flash any third-party ROM at this time. Is there anything else I would need it for? At this time I just want to remove "DROID" sound from the boot (by renaming sound file), possibly uninstall some junk apps (Amazon MP3 etc), install AdFree Android and some other apps requiring root, tinker with software development for Android. Please let me know if any of these activities need S-OFF.

1) I am not 100% sure my root was successful. unrEVOked software said that it was done. I now have "Superuser Permissions" app on my Dinc but when I run it it just shows an empty black screen. Is it the way it is supposed to be?

2) Assuming rooting was successful - how to proceed to tasks I described above? My understanding that they are performed via remote shell from PC into Linux OS running on Droid, right?

3) I performed rooting using my laptop on which I installed unrEVOked USB driver. I want to proceed using my desktop. Does it need to have unrEVOked USB driver installed? I currently have HTC Sync on desktop and would need to uninstall it because it's driver can't coexist with unrEVOked.

4) I also have MS Activesync installed on my desktop - can I leave it installed?

5) What tools can I use to remote shell from desktop to DInc? It seems I need to use Android SDK but I am not sure and didn't find any guide on that yet. If someone can clarify this it would be great.
