OK, so I screwed up. After I rooted with Unrevoked 3.21, I downloaded Titanium Backup and started to take out bloatware and move apps to the SD card that the developers foolishly neglected to enable. I saw Facebook with HTC Sense" and thought it was a space-wasting duplicate for the main app on my phone. Not wanting to take chances, I attempted to back it up, then delete. When I saw what the app really did (sync Facebook to my contacts), I tried to restore the backup. HOWEVER, whatever was backed up wasn't the app, but I guess data from the app. I was able to find the .apk file on the XDA forums, but I have been unable to reinstall it. Can someone help me?

if the facebook you removed was the friendstream embedded one you may have to re-flash your rom to put it back because it's integrated into Sense UI.

It was HTCFacebook.apk. I don't know whether that's FriendStream or not.

EDIT: Well, I do see FriendStream and FriendStream Widget in my list of apps.

EDIT 2: I also see something called Root Explorer. Could that help?

Root explorer just lets you browse the file system. What Rom did you flash with?

I just downloaded Facebook for Android from the market is that the one your referring to?

I did Unrevoked, so I don't know. It did say something about ClockworkMod while rooting, though.

Ok if you can go into recovery and have a bunch of options it means your phone is rooted. Since you removed Facebook by accident flash the Sense Rom again.

Go into recovery mode > install zip from SD > browse to the sense rom zip file and run that.

a non rooted phone would only give you the white screen with the skateboarding Andys (the robot)
a rooted phone would give you clockwork black on green screen with lots of options.

Where is the Sense ROM ZIP file? Because if it's /sdcard/update.zip, it's telling me it's not there.

This ROM should work with Froyo, right?

Well, that method took already 2.2 people back to 2.1 then rooted them then put back at 2.2. There is a 2.2 rooting method out now I think. (if you are already at 2.2 factory)

So how do I get back to 2.2? I'm trying to run HTC Software Update, but it's telling me that it's up to date, even though I'm at 2.1-update1.

EDIT: Forget it, I'm doing a factory reset and getting everything back to what it was before I rooted, then I'll root again and avoid that HTCFacebook.apk file when deleting bloatware.

EDIT 2: Even after doing a factory reset, I can't get Froyo update. AAAARRRGHH!!!
