I finally was able to get an email from HTC and root my One. Also got SuperSU after TWRP.
Tether OK, Wallet OK. For some reason, battery lasted, or at least< seemed to last a long time today.
Don't know if there are major benefits to be gained from loading a rom. Or which is a good one. Reading up am curious about the HD Rom by Mike.

Can you please post the steps you followed to root your phone? I am not sure I am tracking with what you did? Thanks!

Have Viperboy's ROM and am pleased overall.
One thing to note: Do not try to install the OTA if you are rooted, even if you have the stock HTC ROM.

The update won't work so install it before you root
