If I root will I still be able to use verizon's hotspot app?

Sure... Rooting does not stop your ROM from doing everything it did before rooting.

If you root, you can use it like fatboy said but you will still need to pay for it. If you want free wireless tether then root and download an app such as wifi tether.

Certainly, being "stock rooted" would not interfere with the factory Mobile Hotspt application. I think what bed269 is asking is which currently available non-stock ROMs support the paid/official VZW Mobile Hotspot. I would like to know this too.

A while back there was a flurry of posts about Mobile Hotspot not working or not being available on various non-stock ROMs.

I'm using BAMF Forever 1.0.7 and the Stock Mobile Hotspot works without issues.

Not to be to sarcastic Frank, but maybe we should all just sit around until you can interpret what it is that you think they are saying before we answer... or maybe you can just answer their question as you see it.
