Rooting and HotSpot?

Just to update some info on this subject:

If I root using the Simple 2 step after taking my phone back to 2.1, (which I understand is not really using UnrEVOked)... am I able to use the HotSpot feature by choosing the right ROM??

I have no prob still paying the $30 but would that actually be obsolete once I root or do I still need to do that??

Sprint's hotspot will still work after rooting but to use the Sprint hotspot you will need to pay them $30 a month.

If you are rooting you could use WiFi Tether which is a free application that can only be used on rooted devices. More information on WiFi Tether can be found HERE.
