Hi,

I'm a noob to the forums, fairly savvy but I am really confused about which directions to use.

I got my SPRINT HTC EVO 4g used. I tried using a fairly popular thread (http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html) but it didn't work. I got the unrEVOked error message, "Is your firmware too new?"

I tried doing factory reset and running unrEVOked again, but got the same message. It seems there are lots of directions for other HBOOT versions besides 2.10. Anyone know what I should do or what directions to try? My phone stats are below.

Here are my phone stats:
Android 2.3.5
Baseband: 2.15.00.11.19
Build Number: 5.07.651.1

If I power on with power+DownVolume, I see this:
Supersonic EVT2-3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-2.10.0001

I would be able to help you out if you weren't on a MAC...uh, easiest way to root would be to unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery, then download a SuperUser zip file and flash it through the recovery. Reboot and enjoy.
