Rooting: How concerned should I be about voiding the warranty?

So I'm considering rooting my Moto X and wonder how concerned I should be about voiding the warranty. How likely is it that one ever uses the warranty, and what types of stuff does it actually cover? Just curious what the likelihood is I'll ever need it or how big a deal it is. My main interest in rooting is basically just to be able to do more stuff with Tasker, but none of it is an absolute necessity. The method just looks so simple to do that I just thought "why not?" I'm fairly tech saavy so I have no fear about doing it or potentially bricking the device, as I'm pretty confident that it can be recovered should something happen.

Any of you ever called in the warranty? What for? Anybody root their device and regret it after something broke or new OTA updates arrived? Or does the unroot process (assuming one is available) generally render any concerns a moot point?

I have never been too concerned about the OS warranty. Rooted the same day I got it.

Have rooted / rommed my last 7 phones / tablets including Windows mobile phone 6.something. Never (well, hardly ever) bricked. Never any thing the Devs could not solve. A few anxious moments, but no real problems at all. Never had need to use warranty. Developer community has been excellent. I don't ever plan to buy a phone that can't be rooted / rommed.

I buy the phone because I like it. I don't ever root my phones. I like warranties.

I've rooted every Android phone I've ever owned, never worried about warranty. I've had to exchange numerous phones in the past, all you have to do is unroot it before you exchange it. Never had a single issue. Heck, I've exchanged phones that still had custom ROMs on them.

Just a heads up- our root method is simple but it has some quirks that are unlike previous phones. One, in order to make changes to /system you need to boot into the OS through recovery, make your changes there, and reboot normally. Currently this is the only way to bypass the system write protection. Two, the unroot and returning to 100% stock process requires either using RSD Lite to reflash your system or fastboot to flash the stock recovery again. Neither are too difficult, but they are slight hurdles that need to be jumped.

Worse case scenrio, wiat a year until manf. warenty expires and root then. You will be half way through your contract and any insurance deductable will still be $100
