Rooting older phones

[Android Central Question]

I have a Galaxy S9+
Model # SM-G965U1
Snapdragon variant (codename star2lte)
Every time I look for ways to root it I get down to the details and it won't root my phone. Does anyone know of an easy way to root it? Also does anyone know where there is a simple training on how to root phones? A lot of the terminology is foreign to a novice.

The US version are harder to root because Lock bootloader, if there is a way , XDA forums would know.

I think you need to be on Oreo to root it but that could have changed because I was reading an older article. Read read read before you try to root.
