Ok so. I searched xda and there is no transform listed under Samsung. Do they refer to it as something else? I.e Evo=supersonic?

I would urge you to use the Vampirefo Kernel. Easy flash using SWUpdate, and everything is rooted. Wifi tether now even works.

I believe so

While it may or may not void your warranty, SDX developers has a guide on flashing back to stock if you need.

Battery life has been great for me.

If you want to improve your battery life, get rid of your widgets and turn down the frequency that programs update. I can easily get a full day.

I am at 12h31m since unplugged and I have 51% remaining. I don't think the battery life could get any better.
