RSS Forwarding to Email

I find it hard to believe that there isn't the capability out there to forward RSS feeds to email. You would think that there is enough of a demand for this that GMail or Google Reader would implement it. If not them, then somebody would have such an option.

I know I can do it on my desktop Outlook or Thunderbird by creating rules and filters, but I can't believe Gmail doesn't have this.

Does anyone have a solution or work-around?
