rubber type battery cover

I'm in the process of doing the Plasti-Dip method now... I'll do a write up with pictures when I finish

i use the larger battery on my sammy and the cover is easier gripped because of the humped back. also the speacker does not get muffled when on its back now..

rubberized cover for Samsung Fascinate

I understand about not wanting to add bulk, but you might consider the Seidio phone cover. It doesn't add much of a footprint and the added protection and rubberzied texture that wraps around your phone is fantastic: seidioonline.com

They make a rubberized battery door replacement for their extended life batteries, but that adds bulk on the back side.

I highly recommend Seidio products. I used them on my Dinc also.

Just to update, I've done the Plasti-Dip procedure three times now on two different battery doors, and I am just not happy with the results so far. The first attempt was looking like it would be perfect, nice and smooth, but got knocked over and got a nice line in the paint. Peeled it off pretty easily and tried again, but the second time was way too textured. My last attempt was less textured than the previous one, but still too much for my taste. Picks up a lot of lint and whatnot. So I will peel off again and give it another shot... Just have to figure out the proper spraying distance, because the recommended 12-16 inches adds way too much texture.

ok there is a rubber type cover that surround the fascinate including the back.
but since the cover on the back and edges it is a good thing, all except for any fascinat owner who lays their phones down on the back.. the speaker is already muffled enough.when laid down..

i have a extra large battery and aim to get a cover for it,, i have been told that the covers now out for regular battery cover and edge protection is tough and hardly anyway anything can hurt it..
