Running Case?

Hello all,

I just got the Epic 4G Touch and I'm really digging the phone. I'd love to use its GPS capabilities to track my runs and various workouts, but it's so big that I'd really need a specialized armband case. Does anyone have a case that they would recommend for this purpose? Or have any other good ideas that would allow me to go running with this phone? (My pockets are out of the question. Frankly, pockets on my running pants aren't big enough to safely contain this phone, especially while I'm bouncing around running!)

Thanks!

I haven't found a suitable case for running, but if you haven't discovered it yet I would recommend the app Endomondo.

I use the app to track my runs each day. Right now I am simply carrying the phone in my hand via a rubberized fitted case to avoid slippage. However, I would prefer an arm band case when one becomes available.

Thanks, DAS. That does seem to be the best way to do things, for now. It will be awkward on an armband anyways, just because it's so big! I'll check endomondo out, too.

Prior to using endomondo I used the Nike+ app exclusively on my iPod Touch.

I liked Nike+ because it would track my miles, and provide in ear updates of my distance ran, average pace, and time running. The app also would wireless sync my runs over WiFi, and provide online charts and graphs to track progress and sign up for challenges with other runners. On the Nike+ forums many users have been screaming for Nike to produce a similar app for Android, but so far Nike has chosen to ignore those voices and so the folks at Endomondo have answered.

Check it out and let me know what you think.

I bought this case on Amazon:
Although it is for the Evo, it works with the ET. The touchscreen works through the plastic cover on the armband.

I just bought this same armband. It is ok, it works, but not great.. I had a tunebelt armband I used with my old palm pre and thought the quality was a lot better. The 4g touch is so large it barely fits (even with no case on.) Note that I also had to add a new hole for wired headphones, they don't line up with the 4g touch's jack. With bluetooth headphones no big deal though, just haven't bought those yet.

Thanks for that advice. Unfortunately, with a big phone like this, those of us who want to listen to music while running (or track our runs with GPS) are a pretty small audience so far. I haven't found anything besides the linked product that would work at Sprint stores, T-Mobile Stores, Sports Authority, Best Buy, or even Amazon. I suppose it will have to do...

That's exactly where I ended up.. this is the best option I could find right now.

For posterity's sake, I can kind of understand why this phone doesn't have a personalized running case. Though it would be super useful to use the phone's GPS to track my run, the thing is just super big. It has felt pretty awkward attached to my arm. If other users are thinking about getting an armband case, I'd give them the warning that it would take some getting used to, especially compared to some smaller gadgets like iPod nanos.

Totally agree... just feel big and awkward to run with. I am still using it that way, but my old Pre was a much nicer size for running with. That is the only size issue I've encountered though, in every other use I like the bigger screen and it is so slim it isn't a big deal in your pocket.

Without a doubt an S.P.I. belt is the way to go if you're a runner. I've been running with one for a couple of years now.

Bought the belt and went out the other day with it. Wasn't what I would call 100% comfortable but I think (hope) that I will get used to it. Might need to wear it higher on my arm.

What's an SPI belt then?
