running out of space

and

25.4 Gb free on external SD card of 29.2

How can I transfer apps / data to external SD card successfully?

Tried it with Kindle App and still trying to get the thing to work properly again despite uninstalling and reinstalling several times

In settings click on apps and then on the app you want to transfer then move to SD card.
However some apps can't be moved, Facebook, some apps say they can, but don't like it, on my old phone I had a problem with go power master and it seems like you have the same with kindle.
My advice, just ignore kindle and go and try others

Know you the apps that really need much space for their data?
If not, install and run DiskUsage, it has a nice graphic for showing.

BTW, I also can't force the Kindle app to use the external SD card for the books

I can't see anything in applications in Application Manager that allows me to move them.

Sorry, my current phone doesn't have SD support and my previous one was gingerbread, so I'm not particularly up to date

Why not try some spring cleaning early. Any app you haven't used in say 2 months...uninstall. you can always reinstall if you need.
I did same and cleared nearly 50% of my internal memory.
