Hardware updates are becoming marginal. I own a nexus 4 and nexus 10 and dont see a meaningful upgrade in any device. I use chromecast and remote desktop for tv. I use my tablet for driving. I got a smartwatch on the way. I'd buy google glass for driving but i know it will be dead in no time. Better to wait for a second generation device or atleast a replaceable battery so i can alternate for a road trip.. Maybe something that attaches to the glasses i already have that can somehow last a whole day. I think I've exhausted the limits of the current technology.

What else is out there or on the horizon? Android tv? It would be hard pressed to best the convenience and quality of my current setup. Eyewear is atleast another year off. Android in-car isnt going to beat a full blown tablet in-car.

I could trick out my car but whats the point? Turn the car on from my phone to get the A/C running? In-windshield computers are still a ways off. I cant get excited about back-up video. I could trick out my home if i owned it but im still not excited about smart-home features.

I need more crack but there's none to buy.

There doesn't seem to be much left. Maybe a smart oven? :) Hands-on with Dacor's second-gen Android oven | Android Central

You've got a 2 year old phone and tablet......there's a good start.

That's a big part of the problem. After 2 years, i would expect a meaningful upgrade but there is none to be found. The software is going to be identical and the hardware is only marginally better. In fact, the new samsung galaxy note 10.1 still doesnt surpass the ppi of my nexus 10. The battery life is still low. It will run the same android version.

Wait for nexus 6 with android L?

I'm in the same situation, gave my sons an EVGA Tegra note and tf700, kept the note pro, the Nexus 7.2, ipad mini retina.
I think i may grab a new Shield tablet or Toshiba Chromebook 2 which just was announced with the high def screen option. I often think i should try a Windows tablet then see the pictures and look elsewhere.....the UI is just ugly I think....

I do think that the smartphone/tablet space is slowing down a tad. It's getting harder to justify upgrading to a new smartphone and even harder justifying a new tablet.

Agreed, we are not seeing the massive leaps in real technology differences. Certainly on the tech side things are still ever changing but to the consumer we are not seeing a big difference in day to day usage vs a device a year old.

In-home automation looks really cool. I wish I could try it out, but I don't have the money. I watched a video of having everything in his house work through Google Now and Tasker. I thought it was cool. What smart watch do you have?
As a fun toy, I could see you liking a drone. They're fun; the problem is battery life. The good ones may maybe half an hour on a charge. Take a look at the offerings from Parrot, and keep in mind they will have a VR-capable drone out for the holidays that you can control from an oculus rift and the likes.

Perhaps something like a FiiO 18 (Kunlun) for better sound, but I'm pretty sure you need to upgrade your phone to have on the go USB. If you did that then you would start down the road to better headphones. No end to upgrades there.
Or you could get one of those lenses that clip onto your phone for better pictures. I know nothing of these personally.

In windshield computer. Yeah that be good to have so some skid kid can smash it.. Worst idea
