S Beam not available in Google Nexus i9250

Hi,
Can any one help to transfer music files from Nexus to other Samsung devices? Nexus has Android Beam and other devices (S3 and Note) has S Beam. Is this a hindrance?

I've tried this with a friends GS3 and my N4, they didn't seem to want to play nice. We both had WiFi, Bluetooth and Android Beam on but no dice; they wouldn't send anything over android beam. The "touch to send" dialogue came up but it always failed.

On a related note i was able to beam both webpage links and photos to another friends VZW Galaxy Nexus from my N4, so it seemed the Samsung s beam software is interfering with android beam.

My mobile (Samsung Google Nexus with Android 4.2.2) has Google Play Music and the same is available in S3 and Note2 as well. When I try to beam the the music file, both the devices get connected. But after tapping to beam, there is no response from the other device. Will the app provided in the above link resolve this?

I am able to transfer files to my friends S3. The trick is to turn off S beam but turn on the NFC function.
