S Pen Holder Kit

I am. I invested in the holder kit and absolutely think its the best if you really use the Note for serious note taking.

In business meetings I found using the standard pen too be a pit awkward to hold and take real notes; the precision was not there.

However, since using the Holder Kit, I can take better notes because writing is more like using a real pen.

I must add that I leave the holder kit at work on my desk, because it's at work that I use it most. It's not practical for me carry around all the time. For quick notes I use the standard S-Pen.

I liked it a lot. My only problem (which I mentioned in our review) ... It's easier to lose since it doesn't connect to the phone, right?

Speaking of which. Need to go buy another to replace the loaner I lost. :-/

Correct. The holder kit does not attach to the device. It's because of this fact, that after purchasing mine I decided to just leave it at work in the pen holder on my desk, and grab it before going into a meeting or while taking notes at my desk.

I simply place it back in pen holder on my desk (like I used to do with my old ball point pens) at the end of the day. At home, and when I'm out on leisure, I use the standard S-pen slotted into the device.

I think I'm going to get one, and leave it at work as that's where I'm most likely to use it for serious note taking. I need to force myself to use this device to it's full capabilities.

When I first moved to a smartphone, I had to force myself to use all the features. I had to force myself to start using the calendar, the task list, etc...Now I'm dependent on one. The Note is a level above a smartphone in my opinion, and it's got this awesome feature (S Pen) that I need to take advantage of.

I don't want it to be a novelty feature, I want it to be an integral part of my use of this device. I think the Holder is going to be necessary for me to really use it.

I have a Cross/Wacom pen that I use with my Windows 7 tablet which is similar in size to the pen in the kit. In my opinion it's the only way to go for serious note taking.

While we're on the subject of note taking, I have used active digitizers before and you needed a special pen in order to write. However, with the Galaxy Note, you can write as well with your finger as with the S Pen. Is there a way to change this behavior so that only the pen can make marks on the screen. Otherwise, your hand Will make stray marks, as with the old resistive screens.

One tip that I found by watching a bunch of YouTube vids, was that if you put one finger of your non-writing hand on the bottom corner of the screen it appears to lock the screen so that only the S-Pen is recognized and you can avoid the stray marks.

It works really well, and now I use this method when I am taking serious notes using the S-pen. As I mentioned I also use the holder kit for my serious note taking, and just leave the larger pen at work and use the slotted S-Pen when I'm on the go.

Guys you totally need to get Jotter. It's five dollars but it's totally worth the price. It's like a modified version of S Memo, it uses the S-Pen SDK, leaving out the bloat (voice notes and such) and adding the most important feature: HUNDRED PERCENT PALM REJECTION

I really need to use caps because this is so important. You can rest your hand on the screen, just like that. You can even disable the back button, and switch buttons of you're left-handed. The app is very simple and very intuitive. It's so easy to use I prefer it over dedicated drawing apps, for example.

I think Jotter is the first killer app for the Note, hell it's what S Memo should have been from the start. Btw, with the latest Gingerbread rom lC1 Samsung has added palm rejection, but I'm not sure if it's as easy and intuitive as Jotter, and anyway I didn't want to wait for Movistar to update my rom so I just threw 3 euros at this app. Come on, a real pen is 2 euros and you have to buy a new one every couple of months. You're actually saving money.

Reviewers who said the S-Pen was a gimmick were just clueless. With Jotter and Soonr Scribble I find myself using the pen every day for things that are simply impossible for other phones. I can't completely replace paper sheets and pens.... Yet. We'll have to wait for a Note 10.1 or an even bigger one, but hell, this is the start of something huge.
