S10+ battery question: Does it stop charging when it's full?

Question does the battery stop charging when fully charged of left plugged in?

https://www.popsci.com/charge-batteries-right/

If you do fill your battery all the way up, don't leave the device plugged in. Instead, follow the shallow discharge and recharge cycle we just mentioned. This isn't a safety issue: Lithium-ion batteries have built-in safeguards designed to stop them from exploding if they're left charging while at maximum capacity. But in the long term, electronics will age faster if they're constantly plugged in while already charged to 100 percent.

Agreed. All batteries stop charging when full. To do otherwise would be such a safety risk that any company that tried it would soon find themselves litigated out of business.

When it comes to Li-ion batteries, they prefer a happy medium. Keeping them at a high charge level speeds up the internal degradation. This doesn't only apply to keeping it plugged in, but would hold true if you charged it and completely disconnected the battery to put on a shelf. This is why phones are shipped with a partial "storage charge" instead of a full charge.

Case in point, I've killed a battery in 6 months by keeping it plugged in almost all the time.

If you had a flat Samsung charger.
You could see its blue when its charging.
It goes green when it's charged.

I wasn’t worried about it exploding I was concerned about the battery health as in leaving it plugged in after fully charged the battery life is impacted

yes, Morty did--but what I quoted disagrees with his answer.

With her* answer, lol. But all good! I am by no means an expert in the world of batteries. I try to take care of my phone batteries to the best of my ability. You're welcome to disagree with me if you like - this is a community where all opinions are welcome. :)

If a battery crashed out..what does it cost to replace it
100.00
Cheap.
I've seen some claiming $150, and no that is not cheap for most people even at $100. It's why so many long for the days of reasonable batteries that were $20 or less, and could be swapped in seconds rather than an hour.

For a lot of people $100 is a lot of money. Especially in certain parts of the world or people on low wages.

But for them to jump up and pay 1000.00 and more for a phone.
How cheap is that.

I still say.
100.00 for a battery is dauym cheap.

Most people that has a phone that the battery cost 100.00.
Shouldn't have the phone they have.

People wanted a diamond phone to show off..they want all the bells and whistles.
And the best camera money can buy.
They got a phone you can't change your own battery.
Got a phone that breaks easily.
I can't wait till all phones start at 1500.00 each.
They got a super nice phone back and color.only to stick it in a case so you can't see the back.
I want to hear all the crying then.

Most people don't pay full price for the phone, due to trade-ins and other promotions. It's also not just the $1,000 phones. I have a Samsung A50 that we got free as part of a promo. At full price, it's only $300. Guess what, it has a sealed battery. Sealed batteries are getting pervasive in the secondary and tertiary level phones, not just the flagships. There's no way to justify a battery replacement cost that is a third to half the price of the phone itself, and those people have every right to be upset about it.

Why are you crying? Seems like you're very jealous of people and their phones.

You won't harm a battery by putting it on charge at night and unplugging it in the morning any more than by charging it to 100% and then unplugging it.

And you're totally allowed to say that.

You're just wrong lol.
