My partner has an S10+. She dropped the phone and shattered the screen. Screen is now useless apart from a flash of light when she turns it on.
Phone still works, alarm goes off at 6 am everyday.
Phone is not registered with Samsung account, nor find my phone.

Is there anyway that the info, pics, messages can be transferred to a new S20.
I’ve tried mirroring it on a smart tv with hdmi but the phone shows locked on the tv and won’t unlock from the phone screen.

Advice ? Help ? Any solutions ?
Thanks

I would say connect to the pc and use smart switch but you'll need to enable trust this computer on the screen when it pops up

Edit: By the way want say welcome to AC!

That’s the problem, the screen is pretty much black and not responding to touch, I just don’t see the need to go to the expense of getting a new screen on it but looks like I’ll need to do that but then still can’t back it up if I let Samsung do the screen.

Thanks for the welcome

Is there a Ubreak Ifix in your area?

could you connect to a PC with link to windows? you can then mirror the screen and use the mouse and keyboard to type in your password. another option is to mirror screen through smart view and see if you can still type in the password.

Well if you've turned the device on and off this complicates things a bit but there may be a little hope. Often even when the visual portion of the screen doesn't work the digitizer still works. That's the touch portion of the screen that accepts all of the user inputs. How many times have we seen people walking around with broken and cracked screens, the digitizer is pretty durable and often works even when cracked and damaged. The visual portion just gives you a frame of reference but the actual work is done on the digitizer.

The reason I say this would be easier if you hadn't turned the phone on and off is because once you power the device down it requires a password, pin or pattern to unlock. The finger print scanner can even work through some damage but you have to unlock the device initially before that's an option. You could try powering on the device, approximating the pattern and see if you are then able to connect it to your TV again, if you're saying that it wants to show you the phone screen using that method. In the past I've done something similar but mirroring required USB debugging to be on and a PC for what I was doing.

However just being able to unlock the device should allow access through a PC connection to folders on the device. You really don't need to see anything for that. If you can get the device unlocked you should be able to retrieve at least some of the things you're concerned about loosing. This will also allow you to transfer items when the new device arrives.

As for your messages, I don't believe you need to do anything. When you switch devices, at least with all of my Verizon devices, they repopulate when you activate the device. Hopefully you're using Google or Samsung services for your contacts so they will repopulate without any action as well. The only thing you might loose is your call logs... I want to say that they repopulate but I'm not 100% about them.
