S2 mic only works on speaker

I recently had the charging port replaced on my S2 but now the microphone is only working on speaker. I have checked the pin hole and even removed the back and carefully made sure the mic is properly sitting in its rubber boot and connected. I have also updated to Android 4.1.2 but still have the problem. Does anyone know if there is more than one microphone on the S2 ? If there is only one and the mic hole is clear than it would have to be a software issue wouldn't it?

I forgot to add in on a world holiday and had it done in cuba and currently in jamaica and about to fly to belize on monday (then central and south america) and dont speak Spanish so would greatly appreciate a response so I get my voice translator working again!
