S2 on other phones

Does anyone use the Gear S2 with other android devices? I'm getting the Honor Note 8 and wanted to know how well the S2 will work without a Samsung phone.

You may run into issues with Samsung Pay on the watch if you even use that. On the S2 watch its limited to the same terminals that Android Pay is limited to, so Android Pay works just as well

Thanks! I haven't used Samsung Pay on my Gear 2 yet, so if it doesn't work after pairing it to my new phone, that's okay with me. I wasn't aware that Android Pay works on the S2, unless I misunderstood you.

Sorry I meant android Pay has some limitations where you have to use terminals thathave the tap and pay symbol. Samsung pay on samsung phones can be used anywhere you slide a card but samsung pay on the gear s2 is limited just like android pay.

Android Pay is limited to POS terminals that have NFC. The Gear S3 and select Samsung phones have both NFC and MST hardware allowing them to be used on almost any POS terminal. The S2 doesn't have MST hardware and therefore can also only be used on NFC terminals.
