Anyone have both the S20+ and the 4XL? If so, which is the better phone in you opinion? I'm thinking about ditching the S20+ due to the TMobile bloat and duplicate apps. I switched from Apple so I want a cleaner experience. Samsung is busy.

It comes down to preference, as far as TMobile bloat you should have got the US unlocked S20+ which is a cleaner Samsung experience phone as intended by Samsung instead of the crappy carrier models with all the carrier bloat/customization (sure you can disable).

As far as which is better, I have used both and most of the time I have a Pixel, iPhone and Samsung phone. S20+ is definitely more premium feel and feature rich, better battery life etc. 4 XL is great as well if you prefer Google experience and fast platform updates. It's honestly a very sensitive topic and people fight over arguing one is better than another. But that's something only you can decide on what you like. All I can say is they are both flagship phones with different priorities and experiences. If you plan to keep your phones long then I would wait few more months for Pixel 5 instead of buying 4 XL. If you change phones often then try out the 4 XL and you can switch to Pixel 5 later. Do note that trade in values are not great from Google so if you buy 4 XL now and switch to Pixel 5, plan on selling the phone yourselves for better value.

I'm personally trading the 4 XL for the US unlocked Note 20 Ultra since Samsung is going to give crazy trade in value for my Pixel 4 XL ($650 most likely), anyway I'm going to get the Pixel 5 in few months. I'm also contemplating on temporarily getting the 4a until Pixel 5, if I need a pixel until Pixel 5.

I returned my S20 ultra for a Pixel 4 XL and haven't regretted it one bit. The ultra was just too much phone for what I need. Even though considered a "downgrade" I love the pixel! Battery complaints seem to be overhyped imo. I use my phone from 6:30am til approx 10:30pm and usually have 30% or so left by then with pretty heavy usage. If a clean experience is what you're looking for, you'll definitely get it with the pixel, especially if you have Google products like their nest mini or nest hub. It blends together with those products seamlessly.

I went from a S20+ to the Pixel 4XL and have not regretted it once. In two days, I had more problems with the S20+ (fingerprint sensor did not read half the time, photos were not good, etc.). So far, no problems with the Pixel; other than due to the face mask issue would have loved a fingerprint sensor.

So what's everyones thoughts on the rumored Pixel 5 getting away from the flagship competition.

They need a flagship, they already have mid-range series.
I agree I don't know why they would step down with the Pixel 5. I really hope the rumors aren't true. Google needs to come out with a beast of a phone but I honestly think that won't happen.

I agree, I really like my pixel phones and probably going hold on to my pixel 4xl until Google gets it together .
All these manufacturers know their best flagship not going sell the most but they need them .
I'm sure apples 11 max pro isn't the most sold or
Note series .

Agree with you and with the current flagship hardware Google should promise updates for 5 years like Apple. May be that will improve their flagship sales a bit more.

If the early rumors of the 5 having a 6.7" 120hz screen turn out to be true, and assuming they don't skimp on the battery, I think it'll be a nice phone. The snapdragon 700 series phones seem like they've had good battery life, and the 4a performance seems fine with the lesser version.

I was all in on the note 20 for a minute, but the camera (for pictures) probably won't be nearly as good as the pixel, and Samsung's software experience is still garbage imo. Their screens are beautiful though.

I think Google aims to make more affordable mid range phones than price/spec heavy phones. I'm not sure why but that's what they seem to do. I would also love a pixel with the specs of a S20 Ultra or note 20 ultra.

So I came from a 4XL to an S20 about a month ago. While I like the 4XL and I've had pixel devices the last few years and do like the clean simplicity of them after years of carrier Samsung devices I have to say I'm mostly loving the S20 experience. I bought an unlocked S20, while there's still way more going on than the Pixel, it's a far cleaner experience than the carrier versions and running Nova really allows you to hide what you don't need. Is the camera as good as the Pixel? No, but it's far from bad and more than good enough and far more versatile with the wide angle lense so and the video recording is far better.

Face unlock isn't as good but having to wear a mask right now when I go out I'm glad I got the fingerprint sensor. I got a bigger battery, better screen that's almost the same size in a smaller package with twice the storage and twice the RAM.

I am missing call screen and the Google dialer but other than that I'm enjoying the extra features. Bixby routines are great. It never feels slow or sluggish and lasts me all day. That said, I don't think you can go wrong with a Pixel either and I think there's a chance the 5 will be pretty good.

Just wait for pixel 5. It's just around the corner if you really wanting to jump to Google phones. Jumping to pixel 4 xl now doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I have the S20+ (Snapdragon one) and a 4XL. Being honest I do prefer a lot of things about the S20+, like yesterday I used my 4Xl whilst out at a theme park with the kids and I basically had to revert to the pin to unlock it.

But the Pixel’s main camera just blows the S20 away most of the time, and every time I look at the pictures it just hits home how much better the Pixel is in that regard (as a point and shoot)

With Huawei on the naughty step I really am finding the camera situation on android a little frustrating these days. The Pixel is compromised in so many ways but the camera is (IMO) just better for stills than any other droid available. Feels like you have to pick camera vs. everything else right now or go iPhone of course!

That depends on the price that you get it for. I just bought one for $499, which makes it a great deal.
