S22U from Note 20U?

Surely many here have upgraded from the Note20U to the S22U. Was it worth it? With August 10 around the corner, I find myself significantly more interested in the GW5 (Pro) than the Fold 4. I have a Note 20U, Fold 3 and GW4 Classic. I moved back to an iPhone 13 Pro as my daily because I found the watch unsuitable for my use case. It's hard to reconcile the Z Fold 4 being such a significant upgrade from the Fold 3 (and no leaks so far have suggested otherwise.) BUT, if the watch were compelling I'd definitely get the S22U as my daily- if it's demonstrably better than the Note 20U. I've read reviews and watched a few comparison videos- nothing conclusive. Have you all found it to be a worthwhile upgrade?

I think it is a significant upgrade from the Note 20, BUT not too drastic. However, you'd be assuring software updates for a couple more years rather than being close to the end of support. Also, right now and until the new foldables are released, it is not a great time to buy an S22 unless you get a mind-blowing deal on it (prices usually drop once the foldables release and more deals on trade-ins are available then).

Thanks. I wouldn't buy it until I see the Fold lineup, for sure. And likely not at all if I don't love the Watch. You raise a good point about the software updates. I'd not considered that part. Probably because I rarely keep phones that long. Thanks again!

I upgraded from the Note 20U to the s22U mainly for the camera specs. The s22U is a great device, but in my case, if I had it to do all over again, I'd stay with my Note 20U.

I found that my Note 20U (which I kept) is faster & uses less battery. Again, in my case, I didn't feel like the s22U was much of an upgrade. But I don't dislike the device.

I probably should have waited for the s23U.

I feel it's worth it if you can upgrade for around $250 which is what it cost me out of pocket after trade-in... and that's if you get the 256GB model. Samsung gave me $950 for my N20U and the upgrade to 256GB was free. I just don't like the idea of 8GB base when the N20U had 12GB.

My thought is I was going to wait for the S23U... but then what would my 3 year old (at time of trade for S23U) N20U be worth?? Samsung offering me $950 for my 2 year old N20U and now if I want to trade my S22U for S23U, from what they have been giving for S21U, I should get $1000 for my S22U and at least be a wash if I had kept the N20U and used it to trade 3 years later.

For that price the S22U is a decent upgrade... better phone overall than N20U. the camera is much better so for me it was the only reason so for me it was worth it. The 2nd gen FPS... I don't worry about it failing... that's how good it is even though on my N8 and N20U it sucked and couldn't rely on it. So that for me is a huge value-add and eliminates a frustration using the N20U. The screen is brighter and better but the N20U was no slouch so I don't really see a diff.

Other notes...

Battery... IMO no better or worse than the N20U. disappointing since it's a bigger battery but oh well.

Speakers... IMO weaker than the N20U so I am disappointed in it. Comparable to my Note 8 maybe? Not terrible. Just not loud enough and sound is not as full as my N20U.

Vibration motor... weak since they changed axis on vibration. Can miss notifications at times if you are use to using/depending on it.

Lost the SD-card slot but that was inevitable but just noting.

But in the end... Camera upgrade and FPS upgrade... worth $250 for me. And I get 4 years OS upgrade in case I decide to skip S23U and wait for S24U.

I love my S22U , but for me I could have stuck with my N20U. My phone addiction just wouldn't let me NOT get a new shiny toy .lol With the exception of the updated camera specs and the slightly better smoothness in using the Spen, I basically bought the same phone.
The big positive is that I didn't have to relearn a new phone and I didn't lose anything by switching to the S22U, but I really didn't gain a lot by switching either.

I appreciate the responses. You all seem to be confirming what I suspected- if I'm not sold on the Z4 but AM sold on the GW5, I may as well keep the Note20U or Z3 until next year. But, as mentioned, that shiny-new-toy addiction kicks in and there I am trading in a bunch of devices just for something new! "See" you all on the 10th!

We could of stuck with our S21 ultra's also they were awesome! We only upgraded cause they gave us a $1000 bucks for our phones that we paid 800 for with trade in of S10+ last time. I had plans to wait and go from 21 to the 23 if the 200 zoom thing is true but I figured for the price get the 22U and it's so great by the way and I love the camera and haven't had any problems with it. I don't use the pen much I forget it's their alot of time but I have used it a few times and it's nice to have.

I have never been a note fan and tried the 8 one time too big didn't like it went and got the 9 plus only time me and my husband didn't have the same phone since the original Evo he liked the note 8 too big for me but now I use pop socket and I actually like the square look of the 22 over the 21 now. But now we will get more for our 22 if we do decide to get the 23 but I won't do it right away I'll probably wait and see if they do another good deal like the $1000. And don't really care about accessory credit anymore would rather have a memory upgrade. Unless I got a 100 bucks and a good trade in for my watch 4 I may consider the 5 but I love my 4.
