There's a night and day difference between holding the S25U vs S24U particularly for longer periods of time!!! But in a bad way! The reason is the sides. The sides of the S25u are rectangular and sharp which is very uncomfortable and very unnatural to hold in comparison to the S24U!!! It even causes fatigue and some pain when holding your phone for an extended period.
The S24U has rounded sides and is very easy to hold and even FEELS thinner because of the curved sides.

How ironic that Samsung changed the design because people complained about the corners and actually made the ergonomics worse??!!

Samsung should of rounded the corners like the Note 10+ and NOT rounded with squared off edges like the iPhone. The iPhone design that Samsung took is a major downgrade which is very unfortunate because Samsung had the design right with the curved sides.

I'm seriously considering returning my S25U because of this. It's uncomfortable, not to mention it's hard getting used to the iPhone look that is just less appealing (ugly). My hand hurts after holding my S25U for about 15-20+ minutes in bed. Not only does the design cause hand fatigue, it actually hurts my fingers!!!

Wondering if this is the case for anyone else.

The s25u that I got feels lighter and better in the hands , for the iPhone look if you mean the pull down notifications panel u can change that to how it was previously as one .

My opinion are the opposite, I like the way the s25 feels and looks much better than the s24. With having the flat sides it seems to fit much more comfortable in my hands. I was never a fan of the curved display so this change made me very happy.

Sorry you find it uncomfortable. Unfortunately, ergonomic design can only optimize comfort for typical users, and there will always be some who react differently. I find the S25U much easier to grip securely than the S24U, and just as comfortable. It sounds like you don't use a case (I don't either), but perhaps that could improve your grip. Otherwise, the S24U is an excellent phone as well.

I would have been ok with a curved back and a flat screen, the Plus model is comfortable enough in my hands.

Wife has the Ultra and not one complaint.

I agree my S22 was much easier to hold with the rounded edge. Do like the flat screen better.
I am pretty used to it now but would have preferred a round edge.

I get what you're saying and indeed, holding both phones without a case; I agree that the sides of the GS24U feel more comfortable.

Having said that, I still prefer the GS25U, because now, the corners don't dig into my palms, and it looks way better too, besides, if you're using a case, the sides won't bother you much, compared to the corners digging into your palms.

I'm the opposite....S25U feels rock solid in terms of grip and hold. It's not that I objected to the S24U but liking this new design better. Everyone likes different things of course.

I really appreciate you posting this. I also was having the same issue. I have the S25 plus and it's very ergonomic and lightweight. And I really like how it feels in my hand however, I like the bigger screen of the S25 ultra. Like you, I noticed that the sides of the phone are kind of sharp. I really honestly thought it was just my imagination. But now reading your post, I know that it's not.

You cannot hold this phone with one hand horizontally because your hand will start to cramp up. Also I noticed that when I put it up to my ear, that I don't really want to hold it for long periods of time. I'm really debating returning the the ultra and just keeping the plus because the ergonomics are just so much better. It just sucks that I'll miss out on the extra screen real estate, though. Also I feel like the speakers are a little bit louder than the s25 plus too.

Hopefully, next year Samsung will make the ultra a little more ergonomic. I tried the s24 ultra as well and the corners of the phone dug into my palm, and I didn't like that either. If the sides of the phone were aluminum, then that would have helped, I even have a lightweight thin case on this phone, and it still feels a little bit too big.

Yea Im not seeing this issue myself. Rounded corners are a lot more comfortable. And with a case on i don't even really noticed the edges from the sides. good luck with whatever you choose to do
