Hi, I own an I9300 S3 that I bought back in July 2012. During the past weeks, I noticed it is taking too long (more than 3 hours) to charge my battery to at least 70%. Is there a way to calibrate the battery? It may also be a dying battery, so I might need to replace it.

Thanks.

Try letting the battery fully discharge until it turns itself off. The keep it off & let the device charge back up too 100%. There is a app called 'fast discharge' too speed up the process of killing your battery. I did it and it worked wonders for my phone.

I download the app but honestly I'm confused as to how it would improve my battery life...
Can u kindly explain....

I'm having similar problem with my S3 for the past few weeks. But found out that it charges super quick when I used my wife's BB charger. Also battery drains far too quickly even after using JuiceDefender Ultimate.

I have to say mine also takes a hell of a long time to charge but going to try to just let it discharge all the way the charge.

Mine has also recently started taking longer to charge. Think it started to happen after the last firmware update I applied.
I've found that a reboot helps, but after a few days its back to charging slowly again.

I had this problem with charging taking wayy too long. It's the stock charger that came with your phone. Get a new charger from samsung i got one without usb connection and it now charges my phone super fast compared to the old one. Hope this helps

What charger did you get and where from? How much was it? Did you get an original samsung charger. Thanks

My phone is awful when it comes to this, it charged 14 hours and it went from 0% (it dies very quickly too) to 18%. It loses battery while it charges if it is switched on. I got a new battery and charger but the same problem still occurs, I have no idea what to do, someone please help me out.

I also think it has something to do with the kit charger. But what I do is charge it for a few minutes -take note of the time and battery percentage before charging. Then after a few 5 or 10 minutes check it again if it charged up to at least 4 to 8 percent or so. If after 10mins it still does not pass at least 2percent, unplug the charger, unplug the connector/usb, and re insert it again. It works for me but it still returns to being damned after the next charge. Might as well purchase a new straight charger. :(

So I've been using my htc charger that I had from my old phone and my problem is fixed. My phone charges and lasts a day and a half :-)

I had the same problem and solved it. The problem lies with the USB cable. The S3 needs quite a high current to change; when the internal USB copper cables are thin then this cable cannot deliver the current. My advice try another USB cable and destroy the bad cable (I asume you are not using the original Samsung USB cable, don't ever lose the original cable you need it for Kies)

I see this is a common problem :( my phone has started to charge really slowly the last couple of days. Is anybody else sharing my other problem; I used to be able to use my phone whilst charging, no problem at all. Now all of a sudden if im using my phone whilst charging then it just will not charge.... it just keeps disharging.... regardless of what i'm doing. Why happen all of a sudden? Only had the bloody thing 2months.

So, even though i was using the original charger with the original samsung usb cable to chargw my phone, i gave this a whirl and tried using a charger that wasnt originally a samsung one, but didnt have that usb cable bit. Its just a simple all in one charger. Results: phone charged much faster and the charge lasted longer. Ill be investing in a samsung charger thats all in one, no usb to plug in. If that makes sense!

Experienced similar problems. I purchased a Samsung straight charger, no USB, after reading this thread. Now my phone charges in 3 hours and lasts for about 2 days. Definitely recommend not using the USB charger.

This is exactly what's happening to me now, I bought a new charger, battery and have also rebooted. However, my phone is still charging as slow as ever and now I have no idea on what to do! HELP! :'(

My S3 was getting normally by the samsung changer with the usb cable until one day I charged S3 using usb cable from my laptop. From then my S3 would take more time, 6-8 hrs to charge from 30% to 100% using the samsung charger with the usb cable. On the same samsung charger my samsung grand charges normally(Within 3 hrs to 100%). So the problem could be charging the device using laptop's usb port and usb cable. This may have damaged something in the device or battery. I noticed while charging using samsung changer, the red light on the mobile device is dull red and sometimes it turn bright red. This may be because of the voltage the device is getting. I need to get analysed by a technician on this problem.
