S3 Keeps Turning Off

I have had my Galaxy S3 for almost a year now. Recently in the past couple of months it will just randomly restart itself. It happens when I am both using my phone or if it's just sitting on my desk. What could be causing this? I read that with someone else's it's a manufacturing issue?

Generally this happens because of the system crashes, like a "blue screen of death" on a windows computer. The cause could be any number of things. It's more likely a software issue than manufacturing, though I suppose either is possible. Usually if I were to notice this, the first thing I'd check are any apps I had installed, but since you said this has been happenning to your for a few months it may be difficult to recall which apps were installed around the same time that the problem started.

If it is a frequent problem, you could probably try a factory reset...though that may be a "last resort" type of thing to try.
