Hi all,

My wife decided to dump her iPhone and move to android after I raved so much about how good my S3 was. She brought the S3 mini approx 6 months, ago but right from day one it has had terrible battery life. She very rarely uses it for anything other than an alarm, so I installed the GSam battery monitor to find out what he problem was. This continuously shows that the Android OS kernal is chewing through most of the battery so if anyone has any ideas as to why this is then I would appreciate your advice.

Attached is a screenshot of what is consuming the battery

And below are the details on the Kernel process. It is running Android 4.1.2 with firmware XXAMJ2

Thanks for your help

Joe,

Welcome to the forums!

In order to determine what you mean by 'terrible battery life' we're going to need to see some different data:
- three screenshots from Settings -> Battery (see below for examples from a Galaxy S III)
- be sure the phone starts fully charged
- do not perform any intermediate charge cycles
- let the battery run down to less than 30%
You could also try GSam Battery Monitor Pro: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm.pro (there's also a free version) to look at the Radio Detail (you could include that screenshot as well)

Thanks for your help GSDer,

I will ensure the phone is fully charged overnight and then send through the screenshots at the end of the day.

Have a great Christmas and New Years

Joe
