S3 or S4?

The One S is meant to be a mid-tier device, unlike the flagship One X. Everything I've seen says Snapdragon 3.

It is definitely S4. From HTC's website, it has the MSM8260A. Since, quite frankly, I had no idea what class that was, I found this press release from qualcomm that states:

Today, Qualcomm announced several new S4 chipsets, including the MSM8660A, MSM8260A, MSM8630, MSM8230, MSM8627, MSM8227, APQ8060A and APQ8030.

However, there is a difference between the one in the One S and the One X LTE. The One X LTE is the MSM8960, which from the numbers, sounds like it might have a few extra features such as LTE support, Bluetooth 4.0, etc.

Both phones have the S4 SoC. The Engadget info is erroneous. The S4 in the One S has a different model number because it lacks LTE, but otherwise there is no significant difference between it and the S4 that the US version of the One X will have.
