S3- Orange Triangle with Gray Square.

For the longest time since I purchased my phone a year ago, it has periodically, upon receiving picture messages, shown up as a gray square with an orange triangle. This was alright because it was a once in a blue moon type ordeal. However, recently since I updated to 4.3 it's consistently happening more times than not. My s3 carrier is Metro PCS, it runs 4.3 as stated again. If anyone knows a solution, I would truly appreciate it or any help.

Does this happen all the time or only when on WiFi? It looks like the picture isn't downloading properly

With or without WiFi on, I have experienced the same problem consistently. I would assume it's not downloading properly but, I've gone as far as asking my girlfriend to send a photo 10-15 times and each time this happens.

Have you tried clearing the cache for the messaging app?

Have you tried using another SMS app like Chomp or Go SMS? I'm wondering if it's a setting in the native android messaging app.

Clearing the cache?
Go into your settings and to application manager. Look for the app and tap on it, it'll show the option to clear cache and clear data. Only clear the cache
