I have a Verizon S3 that I have had for roughly 2 years. I am eligible to upgrade but am trying to hold out for the S6. Within the last two weeks or so, it is has suddenly started overheating. I receive a message saying the device is overheating and it shuts down all apps and will allow me to only make calls. I have never had any issue with the phone whatsoever. It has not recently updated or anything like that. This issue appears to be completely out of the blue.
I removed the SD card thinking that was perhaps the issue but it still gave the same overheating message afterwards.
I hard reset it thinking that perhaps some rogue app was causing the overheating issue and I received the same overheating message after the initial "new" setup after reboot. The phone was fresh at that point and nothing had been installed other than the factory software that came with the phone.
When it overheats and I plug it in to charge, it will not allow the phone to charge saying that it's too hot but will eventually charge once it cools down a bit.
Help!
