I'm beyond ready to dump my droid razr and non existent battery life. I'm finally eligible for an upgrade and wanted some opinions on the two versions. I've read that the update released allows for you to store on the micro sd card. My question is if the 32gb phone is really necessary since this update? Sam's Club has the 16gb for less than 130 bucks. Does it really make sense to spend another 120.00 for 16gb more? I'm not a gamer so that might be a deciding factor. Just trying to get the opinion of the board since you guys actually use this phone on a daily basis. thoughts? opinions?

I went with the 16gb version and am very happy. I think it depends on how much music/apps you are going to install.

I went for the 16GB version as well and like you OP I'm not a gamer nor do I use my cell phone as an MP3 player (i have an iPod for that) or use it for radio apps like Pandora. I also don't use it to watch movies. I guess I'm boring in that sense lol. The only music i have on my phone are my personal ring tones & notification tones. Out of the box the 16GB actually has 9.something GBs. But after all my apps & i have a good 60+ apps i still have 6+GBs left. Some people would rather have 20+GBs out the box instead of just 9.

It has more to do with apps on your phone. Yes you can use the built in apps2sd feature BUT, it only moves the app itself and not the larger app data files for games. I got the 32GB which you can only get online, via telesales or if you go to the store they can (though they will likely screw it up) order it for you.

If you get a 16GB in the store you are more likley to end up with an MDK version which is still capable of root and custom recovery, 32GB are pretty much ME7 versions and you can still root (I did) but no custom recovery . . . yet.

I'll agree that if you aren't installing large games then 16GB internal memory is probably enough. You can store music and photos on an external SD card and apps that aren't graphic intensive don't take up much space. For example, I have 110 apps installed according to Google Play and I have 7.6GB of free space. You just have to watch stuff like Instagram or downloads that automatically store stuff internally rather than to your external card, but that's not difficult to do.

If you're like me, and know that you have ZERO interest in installing large apps, primarily games, and don't have any issues using an SD card for your media, then the 16GB will most likely be fine for you. Don't get me wrong, if you can find a similar deal on the 32GB version that reduces that price difference it would definitely be worth considering. I have over 100 apps installed on mine, and still have close to 7GB remaining on my 16GB S3, since I keep all my music and photos on the card.
