My s4 died as it had a android system update and now won't turn back on. I've been told to change my battery and I've done the 10 minute charge and nothing. Is my phone doomed? Or can it be saved

About 60% but it heated up a lot and turned off at 100% but now won't turn I've been told it's battery related but it's weird it turned off at 100%.

Hard to say if it can be saved. Have you called around to any local repair shops and asked for an estimate?
My samsung s4mini died doing an update. The battery had run down so i plugged it in, when it turned on it said it was doing an android update. Temporarily the phone said back up needed then the phone switched off. All subsequent attempts to turn the phone on resulted in a black screen though the phone does vibrate each time i attempt to turn it on. please help if you can
i am also havig same issue with my samsung s4 mini.. NOt even starting... when connect to computer says "serial mode d_load " something but nothing happens to phone..! even not detecting in ODIN 3.0 v too... ;(
