s4 mini handset sounds gone

[AC Question]

My Samsung galaxy s4 mini has lost all of its handset sounds. The speaker is fine and I hear a ringtone when I call someone, but there is no sound for incoming calls, and my alarms are not working (I was late for work today!) Also the annoying sounds like camera flash are gone, although I don't mind that. I have checked all the settings (I think) and the "turn off all sounds" is definitely unchecked. Any advice would be appreciated.

In the first instance, try a Soft Reset....Power Off the phone, followed by Restart.

Welcome to Android Central! Does it make any sound at all from the external speaker? If not, the speaker itself might be broken.
